Welcome to the Neuroscience Gallery

Take a guided tour through our virtual 3-D art exhibition, with Clinical Program Leader, Dr. Michael Sand, to learn how we are revolutionizing ways to address untreated symptoms in mental health. As we progress our research, we take a step closer to finding targeted treatments for the many people living with mental illness around the world.

The exhibition features three installations, each created to represent an aspect of our brain research. It shows how we are turning traditional brain research on its tip, to treat symptoms in conditions such as schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder and depression.

Installation 1: Mind over matter

Shaped out of beautiful copper coils, at first view our eye is drawn to the physical dimensions of a human brain. As the coils transition to the “mind” perspective, we expose and reflect on the wider complexities of our brains.

As our understanding of the pathophysiology of mental health conditions evolves, our research and the solutions we develop must also evolve. Moving away from therapies that just treat the symptoms to targeting the specific neurological processes that cause them. By adopting this approach, we hope to better understand the needs and minds of those affected by mental health conditions, so we can create more tailored treatments.

Installation 2: Research puzzle

Formed by hundreds of individual tiles to collectively represent the duality of medicinal progress; a research molecule transforms to reveal the important relationship with non-pharmacological technologies and innovative research techniques.

Digital technology is shaping our world in innumerous ways, evolving the way we research and treat mental health conditions. Our belief is that the combination of our novel compounds, digital therapeutics and psychiatric support we can provide more effective treatment for those living with mental health conditions.

Installation 3: Our collaborative efforts

Individual discs represent the many faces of those touched by mental health conditions. From those living with them, to the researchers and clinicians working to support them, to all of us at Boehringer Ingelheim - we are united in overcoming the challenges of mental health. From one angle, each person is disconnected, but a shift in perspective reveals the collective power of many - hope.

As a company we are driven forward by a spirit of collaboration. From our external partnerships, from our passionate teams working at Biberach and around the world - it is this spirit that drives us on. Neuroscience remains a challenging and complex field of medicine and our aspiration to deliver a tailored approach can only be achieved through a concerted, persistent and collective effort.
