Growth from innovation
Boehringer Ingelheim has over 130 years of heritage behind it, but took its modern shape in 1963. Twenty years later, our first biologic - Berofor® (interferon alpha) - laid the foundations for biotechnology and Boehringer Ingelheim BioXcellence™. From the capacity that grew to manufacture that and other biologics, we built a major contract manufacturing business. In the decades since then, we have added global capabilities in mammalian cell culture, microbial fermentation, and GMP.
